Assessment of a building structure generally considers these four aspects:
- Identify the primary and secondary structural framing system and components. Structural framing defines how the loads applied to the building are transferred to ground foundations.
- Determine the condition of the individual components, and the performance of the complete structural framing system under design loads
- Examine structural components or systems identified as being critical, assess risks and consequences of non-performance, or failure, and specify repairs and maintenance actions as required
- From a commercialised risk analysis, develop a forward maintenance program to protect your investment in the built environment.
I will discuss each of these aspects in more detail in coming posts
