Structural Assessment for Buildings

Assessment of a building structure generally considers these four aspects:

  1. Identify the primary and secondary structural framing system and components. Structural framing defines how the loads applied to the building are transferred to ground foundations.
  2. Determine the condition of the individual components, and the performance of the complete structural framing system under design loads
  3. Examine structural components or systems identified as being critical, assess risks and consequences of non-performance, or failure, and specify repairs and maintenance actions as required
  4. From a commercialised risk analysis, develop a forward maintenance program to protect your investment in the built environment.

I will discuss each of these aspects in more detail in coming posts
